Hello, again...

I just want to hear opinions about these lenses...

17-55 is about 51,450-61,000 and
24-70L is about 62,000-70,000

17-55 have IS,
24-70 have none...

since im using a 1.6x crop body, which do you think is better? - and why? :D

thanks in advance...

i really wanted 24-70 range, but since im using 1.6x crop body (50d) 17-55 is the equivalent range of what im looking for, 27-88. i have no plans of upgrading to full frame... (yet?) and i think 10k difference makes a real deal.

from the reviews, they say that the optics are the same... and so, i think there's no reason why i shouldn't take it. but i love to have an L.

now i need the best reason why L is the best to buy. first choice ko din sana yung 24-70, pero mas mapapadali kung 17-55 ang kukunin ko, mas mura and the exact range i wanted for my aps-c.

p.s. ang hiraphirap bumuno ng 50k and so much so with 70 :(

eto isang statement of canon :

What you can get when you use Canon L lenses (if you do your part right) are amazing pictures. In fact, this amazement is said to cause a disease know as "L-Disease". Once caught, it is incurable. You will have to buy Canon L lenses in all of the focal lengths you use. AND you will be happy (and I hope you know that I am not being totally serious).

------------

iba ang L lens ng canon compare to non L or 3rd party brand lens..

thanks for replies...

uhm...
i like a little of landscapes...
i love portraits...
siguro, journalistic photographs...
17 is wide enough for architectural photographs and landscapes (atleast) and 55 is long enough for candid photos...

i luv my 18-55 kit lens pero i need a faster lens just as the 17-55's f/2.8...
and if I do my stuff, (astro-photography) i use telescopes...

so, ayun... sana nga lang magkaroon ng 17-55 na L to solve my dilemma...
mashadong maikli ang 16-35L... 17-40L naman is f/4 lang... mas madalas ako sa gabi gising kesa sa umaga and take photos at night... ayaw ko naman palaging gumamit ng flash, kasi nagmumukhang pns quality yung mga shots...

i tried 24-70L for a couple of shots... i think it's a great lens. esp kung ff ang camera ko, but it's not so... ayun... about 3minutes ko lang sha na hawakan so hindi ko pa sha nafeel... i mean hindi ko pa nakita yung capabilities niya since hindi ko pa sha nagagamit while walking around... gusto ko rin yung nadagdag na weight... and love the red ring around it... :P

about the IS kasi sa 50mm na walang IS kasi nagkakablur na ako, how much more sa 70... :( i think i need the IS ng 17-55...

thanks for the help guys... :D

ako masaya na sa 17-50 na walang IS. but then again I find it too limiting pag gusto ko ng headshots. may distortion na kasi. usually I set the shutter at 1/60 and up and try to control the light, flash, proper placement etc. pero ako lang yun. baka iba na ang diskarte mo.

If I have enough money I'll probably get:

10-22 (UWA)
24-70 (my general lens)
70-200 (my zoom)

right now e wala pa akong resources kaya to cover some wide and some zoom i opted sa 17-50 ( a lot cheaper than the 17-55)

1st sir agree ako kay aldous, 10-22mm (athouhg may kulang na 1 STOP) / 24-70,,/70-200mm
but this is good lenses (trinity)

try to test and test para maging perfect..

now im planning to buy 17-40mm f4L or 10-22mm

note: shooting LANDSCAPE no need for big aperture...
photojorunalism need fast lenses and fast composition

:-)

konting OT
papa Warly anong kadalasan f/stop mo sa lens mo?

by the way, with regards to flash na mukhang PNS. try bouncing it. external flash ba yun?

my advice is kumuha ka muna ng external flash. kahit vivitar 285HV. pag aralan mo maigi how to set your lights. pag nacommand mo ang lights mo, kitlens ka lang pamatay na shots mo. believe me

mostly sir aldous, f4 and minsan fix ako sa 1/80 or 1/100 adjust na lang sa ISO...
kung sobrang dilim and area f2.8... then adjust sa flash if ever...

pero may mas cheap akong set-up na naiisip for my 50d

10-22
17-55
60 macro

24-70L
70-200L
15 fisheye

excellent suggestion master aldousbee...
but since im also looking for the "feel" of the "L"... parang hindi ko sha mafeel sa tamron... :D

i pledge my loyalty to canon. for dslr(s) :)

Salamat po sa lahat ng mga nag-reply sa thread... mukhang wala na pong ibang solution para magkaroon ako ng "L" :( maybe it's not time for me to have one...

i wish Canon to make an EF 17-55 f/2.8L IS USM... or atleast make it more sturdy "L" quality, not only optics but also the built.
meron bang napapasahan ng mga suggestions for canon lenses? - i hope they can hear us... (or read the thread atleast...)
