Shout Outs!
Who are we?
What is the EON Photography Group?
A group of like-minded photographers who believe in learning together,
building communities, and supporting each others' dreams
was the words that Mei Velas described the group.
We are an open group holding small and large-scale Photo EBs
for the sake of our love for Photography.
Our tagline goes “Noobies teaching noobies.”
as we are all really novices in the field just teaching each other what we know
and learning together along the way.
Why E-O-N?
On the 28th of January 2007,
after researching various hosting methods from e-groups to group sharing sites,
we rounded-off to using Multiply because of its unlimited storage capabilities.
But the task of choosing a host brought about the task of coming up with a name.
At first, EON was just a tentative name given to the group
brought about by a brain fart by Randall Cipriano.
The connection between us all then was that we were all just novices and amateurs.
Noobies if you will. Thus, EON was a play from the term NEO or neophyte.
It was also a wonderful analogy that EON was defined as,
“immeasurably long period of time” or “timeless”
which can also describe what Photography essentially is.
As time passed, and the Multiply group filled with photographs,
the name just stuck with the group.
The EON Photography Today
Most of the group’s pioneers started with a Canon Powershot S3 IS.
Currently, most of us have traded-up this very capable camera for the versatile DSLR system.
The group is against any form of brand snobbishness and
still remains a Photography group and not a camera specific club.
Today, the core group of members has officially grown to more than 30 active photographers
and more than 20 new-comers. And thanks to the master organizational initiatives of
Raymond Joseph (Rage) Gayondato, Karlo Paulino, Manny Talavera and with close ties with
the crew of Airsoft Xtreme Magazine; as well as others, the group has become bigger
and stronger than we could have ever imagined.
How do you Join?
As stated, we are open to everyone. Joining is as easy as registering, participating
and contributing to the Official EON Photography Forum.
We are all friends here.
